How to play Apex Time Attack

The race objective

Choose a 3D course and race the gold car to the finish before the countdown expires. The translucent car represents your personal best when one is saved. Blue dashes painted on the road mark the end of the first two sectors. The chequered stripe is the finish. Each split tells you how much time you gained or lost against your ghost.

Keyboard and mobile controls

Press Play in the centre or hold W / ↑ to start. Brake with S / ↓. Use A/D or ←/→ to steer the car. Use Gas, Brake and the arrows on a phone. P or the pause button pauses the clock.

Points, credits and coins

A finish earns 800 base points plus 180 per difficulty step. Beat the gold time for 50 points per second saved. Win the duel for another 180. Each 50 points earn 1 CR. Credits are your spending balance. Points count toward the ranking and eligible finishes with 10 active seconds can also earn portal coins.

What to upgrade between races

The results show credits earned and the current balance. Buy a part or switch cars there before repeating or moving to the next level. Each part costs 35, 60 and 85 CR across its three levels. Paint is free. Engine improves acceleration and top speed. Suspension and sports tyres help hold the line. Silhouette R costs 90 CR and GT Six costs 150 CR.

Driving tips

Brake before the corner and accelerate once the car points toward the exit. Stay off the grass. Compare sector times to see whether you gain more from extra power on the straights or more grip in the bends.
